The lllntons sold the entire block for $300.000 tin der an arrangement whereby they fire understood to have received 5150.000 in cash nnd the remaind er In notes. They ?re said to have paid n mortgage of $80.000 on the building, thereby reducing their cash in hand from the transaction to some $90.000; hut their $150. ooo in notes on the property could have been handled to sufficient advantage to give them as much ready cash as they may have wished to put into a hotel. TOWN WILD OVER TREASURE HUNT l)*Yi<m, Nevada, Randier Fount! it#: of Gold ('oins i;v \l. MARTIN" !????? B* Ti>* ?<??? C> Dayton. Nevada. Jan. 27.?This quaint old Nevada town, perched on i ho eastern fringe of the Si erra Nevada mountains has gone wild over hurled treasure. Men and women are digging in ancient collars, exploring ruin* of old houses. delving arouud lives and studying old letter?? and legends in the hope of finding records of hid den gold. Eugene Segale, who recently purchased the old Tailleur ranch near here, fonnd a can full of old gold coins while removing debris in the cellar below the burned ranch house. The coins, tarnished* with smoke and age. bore date? ranging from 1847 to 1871 and were unquestionably buried at least fifty years ago. Segale has declined to say how much he found, but friends assert it wa* sufficient to pay for the ranch and have a haudsome surplus. The workmen employed by "the luck promoter, promptly went treasure hunting and the fever swiftly spread to every resident of old mountain town. Everywhere men and women now are busy with shovels. Long slumbering legends of tn-asure cached by robbers ?nd miners have been revived. Every resident of the town seems con vinced that more forgotten of for tunes exist, and money yet lacks hope of being the second for for tune to favor. In Its prime Dayton wus a roar ing mining town of several thou sand inhabitants located a few imlles below Virginia City. Here were several of the huge mills of the companies wresting treasure from the silver veined Comstock lode. Money flowed like water; every one had a pocketful of gold, gambling halls and places of plea sure crowded the narrow streets. The glory of the old town has de parted. but legends cluster thickly around the ruins. One legend persist log from plo noer times tells of the burial of sixty thousand dollars in gold by stage robbers in the early sixties. RRLHAVRN POATMARTRR h REMOVED ||V DEPARTMENT Washington. D. C..
